What does the bible say about the life of wisdom?

Proverbs 15:31-16:6, 18-20

31 The ear that listens to life-giving reproof
   will dwell among the wise.
32 Whoever ignores instruction despises himself,
   but he who listens to reproof gains intelligence.
33 The fear of the LORD is instruction in wisdom,
   and humility comes before honor.

Proverbs 16

1 The plans of the heart belong to man,
   but the answer of the tongue is from the LORD.
2 All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes,
   but the LORD weighs the spirit.
3 Commit your work to the LORD,
   and your plans will be established.
4 The LORD has made everything for its purpose,
   even the wicked for the day of trouble.
5 Everyone who is arrogant in heart is an abomination to the LORD;
    be assured, he will not go unpunished.

18 Pride goes before destruction,
   and a haughty spirit before a fall.
19 It is better to be of a lowly spirit with the poor
   than to divide the spoil with the proud.
20 Whoever gives thought to the word will discover good,
   and blessed is he who trusts in the LORD.


Pride comes before a fall. 

Jesus is wisdom for us.  We should surrender to Jesus if we are to live in wisdom.

1)  God hates the proud heart.
           Pride is of Satan  Isaiah 14
2)  Pride leads to other sins.  Proverbs 16:18
3)  Pride leads to dangerous consequences.  Proverbs 16:18,  Proverbs 15:31-32

Pride Manifests Itself in 3 Ways
A.  Knowledge - Always have to be right.  Do you get defensive when someone corrects you?  Prov. 9:7-8
B. Power/Control/Authority - Can't stand losing control
C.  Glory/Attention/Recognition - Does criticism ?  Do you get angry when your team loses?  Do you belittle yourself to get attention?


Proverbs 15: 33  Humility comes before honor.
1.  Realize everything you have comes from God  1 Cor. 4:7 (ESV)
2.  Don't boast about the future, it's not guaranteed.  James 4:13-16  (ESV)
3.  Admit that you need help  1 Peter 5:5-7 (ESV)
4.  Boast only in God
5.  Receive Godly instructions.


The voice of  foolishness calls out to us just like it did in the Garden of Eden.
